2026 Non-Community Scholarships

Beyond our local community awards, several regional, state, and national organizations offer scholarships to graduating seniors. This page is updated periodically as new opportunities are shared with the Guidance Office. We encourage students to check this list frequently and pay close attention to individual deadlines and application requirements.

General Academics & STEM

NYWEA Genesee Valley Chapter Scholarship

  • Deadline: May 31, 2026

  • Award: Up to $3,000

  • Summary: Open to New York State high school seniors accepted into an environmentally related college program (Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with environmental emphasis, etc.). Requires two essays regarding your career objectives and environmental efforts.

ACF Visionary Scholarship

  • Deadline: June 1, 2026

  • Award: Up to $2,500

  • Summary: A straightforward academic scholarship requiring a 500-word essay on why college is important to you.

Abbott & Fenner Business Scholarship

  • Deadline: June 10, 2026

  • Award: $1,000

  • Summary: Write an essay describing your life goals and your plan for achieving them. Open to all majors.

Digital Privacy Scholarship

  • Deadline: June 30, 2026

  • Award: $1,000

  • Summary: Open to all high school students. Submit a short personal statement about the importance of digital privacy and responsible online behavior.

NYS STEM Incentive Program

  • Deadline: August 15, 2026

  • Award: Full SUNY Tuition

  • Summary: Provides a full tuition scholarship to seniors ranked in the top 10% of their New York high school class. Recipients must attend a SUNY or CUNY college, pursue an approved STEM degree, and agree to live and work in a STEM field in New York State for five years after graduation.


Health & Nursing

“Caretakers on the Climb” Nursing Scholarship

  • Deadline: May 31, 2026

  • Award: $1,000

  • Summary: Open to high school seniors accepted into a nursing program. Applicants are reviewed based on an essay regarding their choice to enter the nursing profession and their future career goals.


Trade, Energy & Vocational

Horatio Alger CTE Scholarship

  • Deadline: June 15, 2026

  • Award: Up to $2,500

  • Summary: For students planning to attend a community college or technical school for a certificate or associate degree. Must demonstrate financial need.


Writing & Creative Essays

John Estey Student Writing Competition

  • Deadline: June 3, 2026

  • Award: $2,000

  • Summary: Sponsored by the American Writers Museum. Students must submit an original piece of writing based on a specific prompt. Requires a teacher's signature or support for the entry.

National High School Poetry Contest

  • Deadline: June 30, 2026

  • Award: $100 – $500

  • Summary: Open to all U.S. high school students. Submit one unpublished, original poem of 20 lines or less. Eligibility remains open until June 30th of the student's senior year.

The "Do-Over" Scholarship

  • Deadline: June 30, 2026

  • Award: $1,500

  • Summary: A creative writing award that asks students to submit a response of 250 words or less to the prompt: “If you could get one 'do-over' in life, what would it be and why?”


Creative Arts & Media

Lowell Wolf Memorial Video Scholarship

  • Deadline: May 31, 2026

  • Award: $1,000 (Two Winners)

  • Summary: Create a 30-second to 3-minute video illustrating NYS pedestrian safety laws and the importance of community education.

Duck Brand "Stuck at Prom" Contest

  • Deadline: June 3, 2026

  • Award: Up to $10,000

  • Summary: Design and wear an original prom outfit made entirely out of duct tape. Requires a high-quality photo and a brief written or video entry.


Performing Arts & Music

Ocean Awareness Student Contest

  • Deadline: June 8, 2026

  • Award: Up to $1,000

  • Summary: Perfect for creative students in Music, Theater, or Art. Submit a song, performance, or script that explores environmental issues. This is a great "late-season" creative outlet for talented performers.

Singhaus Scholarship for the Performing Arts

  • Deadline: June 13, 2026

  • Award: Up to $2,000

  • Summary: A need-based award for students pursuing a career in the performing arts. This includes theater, dance, and music performance.


Leadership & Student-Athletes

Heather Brown Sports Information Scholarship

  • Deadline: May 29, 2026

  • Award: $1,000 (Two Winners)

  • Summary: Ideal for students who are involved in sports but also interested in media, journalism, or administration. Open to seniors with notable athletic achievements or leadership experience within a sports team or organization.

The "Be Bold" No-Essay Scholarship

  • Deadline: June 1, 2026 (Rolling)

  • Award: $25,000

  • Summary: This award targets students who demonstrate leadership through their online presence and community impact. It favors students whose "bold" profile shows they have taken initiative in their school or community.

BigSun Athletic Scholarship

  • Deadline: June 19, 2026

  • Award: $500

  • Summary: Available to all senior athletes regardless of the sport played. Requires an essay on how sports have influenced your future goals.
