The government agency works in partnership with landowners and the general public
to identify threats to candidate species, plan the measures needed to
address the threats and conserve these species, identify willing
landowners, develop agreements, and design and implement conservation
measures and monitor their effectiveness.
There are many databases within the Virtual Reference Collection to choose from for this project. Two great resources include the following encyclopedias;
World Book -Type in Endangered Species for a look at how the term endangered is defined. See green box on left to link to a list of endangered animals and plants. Select your specific species from that list or type your anmimal or plant by name into the search box at top. Make sure you select High School before typing in your species.
New Book Of Knowledge - Type in Endangered Species for the causes of endangerment. Select from pictures on left for more info on each. You may also search by the name of your specific animal or plant.
