Researching your topic…

 

There are two databases that will be extremely helpful in your research SIRS & Facts.com-Issues & Controversies in addition to newspapers.  They are both available through the VRC-Virtual Reference Collection.

 

-         Select the VRC icon.

-         Select High School Collection.

-         Locate the History/Geography section & find Facts.com Issues & Controversies or SIRS Knowledge Source & click.

-         Enter in the school name & password (please see the library staff for this information).

-         Once at the database site, enter the issue to search.  It will return a list of matches to choose from.  If you are having trouble finding information, you may need to change your search terms (for example, car instead of automobile). 

 

 

 

In addition, there will be many newspaper articles related to your topic.  In the VRC, under News/Periodicals, you can search specific papers (Newsday, NY Times, USA Today) or numerous newspapers at once.  The login & password are the same for these databases.
