Books

Books about religion have call numbers in the 200’s, with specific numbers to indicate a specific religion, such as 230 & 270 – Christianity, 294.3 – Buddhism, 294.5 - Hinduism, 296 – Judaism, & 297 – Islam.

 

The Encyclopedia of Religion (Reference 200.3 ENC) is an excellent source of material for your project as well, and contains information about religions that the library does not have books on.

The following websites give specific information about various religions & their presence in the United States

 

Religious Tolerance  & Beliefnet both contain information about all religions & is an excellent place to start your research.  Look for your assigned religion in the side menu on Religious Tolerance &  under ‘Explore Your Faith’ for the 5 major religions at Beliefnet.

 

Adherents.com offers statistics on where to the largest communities of numerous religions are located, both worldwide & in the US

 

The World Almanac for Kids can be used as a basic introduction to the major religions and gives statistics about religious membership.
