The following databases will be helpful to you when researching Immigration, the various groups that came to the US, the restrictions they faced and the nativist reactions to their arrival;


Within the Virtual Reference Collection (VRC) scroll down to column entitled History and Geography

  • Select the 2nd one down -ABC CLIO's American History - "From the explorers of the Americas to the gripping issues in today’s headlines, American History investigates the people, events, and stories of our nation’s evolution." 

Type in your Immigrants by country- one from each group
. Then select 3 gov't restrictions (ACTS) from the nine listed-search them by name.
Finally select  2 Nativist groups-then search those by name.


  • Within the same column see Issues & Controversies in Amer. History. "This database builds a deeper understanding of how historical events have shaped the United States by exploring the issues as the key players saw them."
From the Subject pulldown menu--> choose Immigration. Then select from images of the various topics you'll be researching.
Also, be sure to type in a particular group by name into the search box.
