Unit Title Pages

Unit Title Pages

Unit Title Page

Your Task:

You will create a visual introductory page for each unit of study.  This will serve as your cover or “Unit Title Page” for each unit in your notebook.  The unit title page will capture the symbols, ideas and people from that particular period in American History.

Purpose:

By creating a Unit Title Page for your notebook, you will have a clear beginning and ending for each topic.  It will also help you to get an overall idea of the unit before actually studying it.  By the end of the year, your title pages will be used to help create a timeline of American History and aid in the review for the 8th grade assessment.

How to Begin:

  1. Skim the chapters in your textbook to be studied in class.  Take time to look at the pictures, graphics and highlighted words.
  2. Search for key people and ideas that best represent the time period studied.
  3. Choose at least 10 concepts that capture the most important events.  These can be any combination of key people, terms or ideas that you choose.
  4. Be sure to include 10 pictures and 10 key terms!
  5. Create a new symbol or use a variety of existing symbols to accurately illustrate the time period studied.

How your grade will be determined:

Please carefully read the following rubric so that you understand what I will be looking for in the final product.  Please be sure to see me if you have any questions.
